Details
ColumbiaNet kiosk stations provide easy access to a wide variety of campus information, electronic mail, and access to the Internet. Placed in lobbies, libraries, and lounges across campus, they are accessible to anyone at Columbia. ColumbiaNet kiosk stations are often used for quick access to services for short periods of time.
Standard Service Features
The ColumbiaNet Stations are running a heavily modified variant of Ubuntu Linux. The stations have USB drive support, allowing users to view, create, edit, print, and save files to and from USB drives.
The ColumbiaNet kiosks maintained by CUIT have the following software installed:
- Acrobat Reader: View and print PDF files
- Firefox: Web browser
- Open Office: Create, view, edit, and print documents, spreadsheets, and presentations
- Plugins: Flash, QuickTime, Windows Media Player, Real Player
