Request Administrative Access to CourseWorks:



CourseWorks administrative access is granted to people who:

  • Help faculty develop course websites.

  • Assist faculty and/or students in using CourseWorks or gaining access to courses.

  • Perform senior departmental support staff duties (AAs/GAs), act as departmental management (Deans, Chairs, Coordinators), or work as a student employee.

  • Need to view the content of many courses within a subject area.

  • Provide course content to students who are shopping for courses.


Please Note: This form is for departmental personnel who need access to groups of courses for administrative purposes. If you are a Teaching Assistant, do not use this form. Contact your supervising instructor or department for access to a specific course.


Access Levels

Different levels of access can be granted:

  • Edit Access: Enables a user to view and update courses in CourseWorks.

  • View Access: Provides a user with the ability to view courses in CourseWorks but not edit them.

  • Full Access (Restricted): Full administrative access to the CourseWorks site (excluding access to sensitive student data like Class Email, Discussion, Gradebook, Test & Quiz.)

  • Full Access: Full administrative access to CourseWorks (including access to sensitive student information like Class Email, Discussions, Gradebook, Test & Quiz.)

Requirements for Requesting Access
Before submitting a request for administrative access, please ensure that you have the following required information:

  • The four-letter "subject code" for the departments or divisions whose courses you need to access.

  • The name and e-mail address of the senior administrator who has authority to grant access to all course sites within a department. This is normally an academic dean or department chair.

Instructors may:

  • Upload textbook information, syllabus, lecture content, and assignments as text or files

  • Conduct online tests, quizzes and discussions

  • Communicate with students via email and announcements

  • Grade student assignments and upload student grades

  • Conduct group work

Students may:

  • View and download content posted by instructors

  • Participate in online discussions, tests and quizzes

  • Submit assignments and participate in group work

  • View their grades and submit online evaluations
