Service Description

Cyrus was the University's primary "free" email storage and access system, serving over 60,000 users. We are currently in the process of migrating to LionMail, Columbia's new email system powered by Google.

Cyrus was the University's primary "free" email storage and access system, serving over 60,000 users. We are currently in the process of migrating to LionMail, Columbia's new email system powered by Google. Columbia University is working with Google to provide a state-of-the-art email messaging, contacts and calendaring system for many members of the University community.

Standard Service Features

• Read mailboxes with any IMAP or POP client including Cubmail (web mail) and email software running on end user computers such as AppleMail, Outlook, Thunderbird and others

• Mailbox sharing, managed using Cubmail

• Sort and filter mail with Sieve, managed using Ingo

• 1 GB basic quota

• Public Folder mailboxes, not part of a user’s account, are available to departments and student organizations

• Real-time backups of all messages. Restoral on request of messages and mailboxes deleted in the past 35 days
