CUIT manages the columbia.edu email domain as well as a number of school, departmental, and organizational virtual email domains , filtering for SPAM and viruses and routing mail to on- and off-campus email storage and access services.

CUIT manages the columbia.edu email domain as well as a number of school, departmental, and organizational virtual email domains , filtering for SPAM and viruses and routing mail to on- and off-campus email storage and access services.

Both in- (from the outside world to Columbia) and outbound (from Columbia to the outside world) email routing service is provided.

Standard Service Features

• Filter mail for spam, virus, account theft

• Convert simple list names to full list of addresses

• Route each user’s mail to Cyrus, Exchange or other system

• Forward mail to other systems at user’s option

• Queue and re-try as necessary

• SMTP authentication for standalone user clients

• Queue and re-try as necessary

Optional

• Virtual hosting for subdomains of columbia.edu and for nonprofits affiliated with the university

• Routing (for filtering) to other university systems

• Accept email from specific campus devices that are not capable of SMTP authentication for delivery to columbia.edu recipients only.
