Enterprise Business Intelligence Solutions consists of the following reporting and database systems:
DARTS (Departmental Advanced Tracking & Reporting)
A web-based application that brings together diverse University financial data from FAS and LDS to financial administrators, and allows them to run a variety of GL and SL based management reports.
SERVICE ELIGIBILITY- Any school, department or individual satisfying prerequisites
PREREQUISITES- Approval by the appropriate Functional Owner and the following:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) 5.5 or higher is the preferred web browser for DARTS.
- You will also need 128-bit encryption, Columbia site certificates, to properly set the IE configurations.
- These are included in the installation instructions (see web site)
- Access to the online Data Warehouse interface.

FEATURES
Access to DARTS is controlled by your Budget Inquiry access in the Security module of the University's Financial Front End (FFE) system. If you do not have access to FFE, you must fill out an application form will need to be filled out.
To access Payroll/Labor information in DARTS you will need to activate the "PAD Access Flag" in your FFE security profile, which requires the approval of your Chairman, Dean or VP. Click to the right for the application form. (Morningside users send the form to the Controller's Office, Health Sciences campus users to the HS Business Office.)

24/7 application access
COB (Consolidated Operating Budget)
A suite of operating activity reports that provide financial managers with summary and detail views of historical financial data, current operating activity, as well as future year budget information. The report suite serves as a tool for monitoring and budgeting financial activity for a given unit or, at an aggregate level, for a set of units up to a total University level.

FEATURES
- On-demand generation of COB reports through an online interface in the my.columbia.edu portal.
- COB reports can be run against historical data snapshots of Actuals and Budget data as well as the latest Budget entries for immediate review of budget updates in the Budget Tool.
- Daily generation of Budget Summary, Ledger Cob, Detail, Overdraft and Error files using Excel templates to provide alternative views of COB data.

DATA WAREHOUSE
Provides administrators with reports and, optionally, access to data extracted from the central University systems for analysis, decision support, and ad-hoc reporting. These central systems are:
- Financial Accounting System (FAS)
- Labor Distribution System (LDS)
- AP/CAR
- Purchasing
- Student Information Systems (SIS, PowerFaids)
- People @ Columbia (PAC)

PREREQUISITES

FEATURES
Data contained in the Data Warehouse is updated on a daily/monthly basis and provides you with a "snapshot" of the activity recorded on the above specified host systems. You may access data in three ways:
- Web-based Data Warehouse Reporting System (DWR).
- Downloads and scheduled reports from the Data Warehouse Reporting (DWR) system.
- Desktop Query Tool. For assistance with ODBC connection, please contact helpdesk.

BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE REPORTING
Business Objects report delivery platform supporting the Business Objects suite of report development tools such as Crystal Reports, Web intelligence, Dashboard Builder, Live Office, etc.

FEATURES
Delivery of reports organized in folders for departmental users. Reports can be developed with Crystal Reports or Web Intelligence using a CUIT supported database.
Standard reports (Crystal Reports) - features include parameter based report creation, report scheduling, bursting, and archiving.
Ad-hoc, self-service and OLAP reporting (Web Intelligence) – Users having a CUIT supported or approved “Universe” can opt to deploy public reports to Business Objects.
STANDARD COSTS
Report Consumers will be able to simply use an approved Web Browser (i.e. Internet Explorer).
Report developers will incur the cost of developer licenses. A recurring charge for annual maintenance may also be incurred (typically 22% of license cost).
