CUIT's NetPhone service uses Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology to transmit voice communications over data networks. NetPhones are being deployed primarily in new buildings on the Morningside and Manhattanville campuses and at several off-campus locations.
NetPhone features basic telphone service, voicemail that can be accessed from a phone or as email and a simple-to-use web-based management interface, My NetPhone.
Many Morningside locations are served by the University's own telecommunications system using RolmPhones. In addition, RolmPhone service is provided in the Russ Berrie Medical building at the CU Medical Center campus. RolmPhones have a variety of features that can be ordered in different configurations to suit specific needs. Rolm PhoneMail (voicemail) is also included in the service.
RolmPhones are gradually being replaced by CUIT's NetPhone (VoIP) service.
