Priority definitions

Priority can be deduced using a combination of Urgency and Impact. For reference, the definitions of these terms are as follows:

Impact:a measure of the business criticality of an Incident, often equal to the extent to which an incident leads to degradation of agreed service levels. Impact is often measured by the number of people or systems affected.

Urgency:the necessary speed of solving an incident of a certain impact. A high-impact incident does not, by default, have to be solved immediately.

Priority:is expected effort. This is denoted by a number value, and is determined through assessing a combination of impact and urgency.

The matrix below describes the framework for determining priority.

CUIT provides limited hosting of servers or services in central location (co-location) with CUIT support. Hosting capacity is very limited due to space, cooling and electrical capacity constraints.

Standard Service Features

The Data Center offers a variety of server hosting options in our secure, climate-controlled, 24 x 7 x 365 Computer Center that is equipped with emergency generator power.

Installation Planning: We can work with your department to plan and implement your hardware installation in the Computer Center machine room.
Server Monitoring: TIO can monitor the status of your hardware and software.
Maintaining Equipment: We also work with vendors to service your equipment, when necessary.
Provide Peripheral Hardware: We can provide you with tapes and cartridges that can be purchased or distributed to vendors.
Equipment Placement: You can choose to simply place your server in the Computer Center and to maintain it completely yourself. As the Center’s space is limited, please contact us so we can determine if we can accommodate your needs.
