Service Initiation

  • Complete all prerequisite course requirements and successful completion of the Knowledge Base and SQL Proficiency Exams.

  • Provide a valid business justification for the requested access and submit for Manager and Data Steward approvals.

Service Description

The UDS is the repository where data from ARC, PAC/LA, Student and Historical systems is stored. Enterprise Business Intelligence Solutions supports FDS reporting, HR reporting, Legacy/HDS reporting, and SIS reporting.

Details

Historical Data Store (HDS)

The HDS contains data thru June 30, 2012 and will become static after FY'12.  The data available in the HDS has the 'Old' Chart of Accounts (FAS Accounts) and 'FFE' Security requirements.  A FAS-to-ARC COA crosswalk table is also available for reference.

The source of the data comes from the following:

  • AP/CAR
  • COB (Consolidated Operating Budget)
  • DARTS (Departmental Advanced Tracking and Reporting)
  • Employee Distributed Pay
  • FAS/FFE
  • FAS-to-ARC COA (crosswalk)
  • Procurement
  • SPOTS

Financial Data Store (FDS)

The FDS contains historical FY'12 FAS monthly balances and current data starting from July 1, 2012.  With the exception of the Budget/COB data updated intra-day, all other data is one day old. 

The main source of data for the FDS is the financial system, Accounting and Reporting at Columbia (ARC), and Labor Accounting (LA).  The ARC and FFE security model is applied. Data in the FDS is categorized into subject areas (GL, KK, AP, etc.) and designed into data models.  A data dictionary is available for each data model, refer to FDS Job-aids & Tools section.

 

The following data is available:

  • ARC COA (Chart of Accounts)
  • eProcurement (ePro), requisitioning only

  • FAS-to-ARC COA (crosswalk)
  • General Ledger (GL) with Commitment Control (KK)
  • Payables (AP)
  • Project Costing (PC)
  • Purchasing (PO)

Human Resource Data Store (HRDS)

The HRDS contains both historical and current data.  The historical data is found with 'Old' FAS departments.  The current data is available with the ARC departments.

The main source of data for the HRDS is the PAC/LA systems.  The PAC security access model is applied.

The following data is available:

  • Pay Detail
  • Pay Summary

Integrated Data Store (IDS)

The IDS contains both historical and current data. The historical data is found with the 'FAS' accounts.  The current data is found with the 'ARC' Chart of Accounts (COA).

The following data is available:

  • ARRA
  • ECRT
  • NSF

Student Data Store (SDS)

The SSDS contains both historical and current data.  Again, the historical data contains the 'FAS' accounts.  The current data contains the 'ARC' Chart of Accounts (COA).
